Graduation Speech

Welcome family, friends, and teachers to our 8th grade graduation ceremony. I want to thank all of you for coming to our ceremony. I just want to start by saying thanks to all my teachers that have been with me all throughout kindergarten all the way up to 8th grade. To all the teachers who first taught me my ABC's and my first steps into learning addition and subtraction. And to all the teachers who helped me improve on my learning skills to get me to where I am today. I'm especially grateful to all my teachers because they never gave up on me when I had trouble in many subjects or other students who had trouble as well. I looked up on many of my teachers wondering how they never showed their frustration or anger when a student was giving them such a hard time. If I were them I would give up very easily but the teachers at Golf and Hynes have taught me to be patient with others and to never give up. I'm going to miss all the District 67 staff knowing that there won't be teachers like them in high school. That's what makes them very special. I remember that in Hynes I was a very shy kid and I didn't have that many friends. Especially in 3rd grade I didn't have any friends and I had trouble making them, but I remember my 3rd grade teacher Ms. O'Shaughnessy, would talk to me and make me feel better or ask me if anything was wrong. I was very grateful to have a teacher like Ms. O'Shaughnessy and I'm grateful to have all my other teachers. Now I just want to say thanks to my parents for always pushing me to work harder and reminding me to do my homework. They also made sure to feed me so I could stay healthy and never grow hungry during school. Without my parents, I wouldn't know how to survive school. And last but not least, all my friends. I would never imagine a world without all my classmates and friends. I enjoyed growing up with my classmates ever since kindergarten. Even for those classmates that haven't been with us ever since kindergarten, they are all very special to me. We even had our ups and downs and some of you guys I don't even talk to, but each of you guys mean a lot to me. In high school, we might even separate and probably won't see each other but I know that we can still all be friendly and maybe stay friends till the end of high school or even longer. Thank you for listening to my speech and I'm going to miss all of you very much. I hope all my classmates go off to high school and enjoy it very much and make new friends along the way. I also know they will all become very successful too. Here is a quote by Dr. Seuss that I agree with very much.

"You have brains in your heads. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."

I wish you all the Best of Luck Class of 2017!!

Dear 5th Grade Meee

Dear 5th grade me,
I just wanted to say good luck in middle school. I'm writing this letter to give you some tips on how to survive Golf Middle School. Or more likely what to expect. So when you get to 7th grade, that's kind of where all the work starts and many projects. It can get you really stressed if you're a really lazy person. So yeahhh. Make sure not to procrastinate, because there is going to be more work to come. In 8th grade, it's going to be crazzy!! Especially towards the end of the year. Because, we need to get ready for freshman year and the end of 8th grade with graduation and the dance. So it gets pretty busy. Also, try to stay more organized, because you're going to need to. I remember where every year, I would always promise myself that I would be organized that year, and it never happened. So, middle school might be crazy, but enjoy it while you can because it's going to be a blast!!

                                                                                    From,
                                                                                       your future self

My End of The School Year Goals

The end of the school year is coming and I'm super excited but also pretty sad to end 8th grade. I really want to finish 8th grade strongly, so I'll get a stronger start for my freshman year. And, I have some goals I want to achieve for the end of 8th grade. My first goal would probably studying and doing well on the finals. I'm super nervous for finals so my goal would be, "Don't be nervous and try your best for the 8th grade finals". My next goal would be finishing off the 8th grade year with all A's. I haven't gotten all A's since sixth grade! I used to be obsessed with getting all A's but ever since I got that one B in Spanish in 7th grade, I kind of stopped caring about my grades. But because I stopped caring, I started getting C's!! So I want to finish 8th grade with all straight A's. That way, I'll feel very proud of myself. My third goal would be to just be confident in ending the 8th grade and confident and achieving my goals.

It's Complicated...

Do you ever get that feeling when school is super complicated and you just can't keep up? Well, I think that everyone who goes to school actually gets it. School is complicated. And it just confuses us. All the homework is just too much and the school work is just too complicated. Even the tests don't even make any sense. And all the bad grades, that you have to tell your parents because they have to sign your report card, gives you stress. I think that school shouldn't be this complicated. And I know what some people are probably saying that if we study, pay attention in class, and actually DO our homework, then school shouldn't be that complicated. But it still is!! (In some ways) Waking up early in the morning to get ready for school so you won't be late, and trying to stay awake in class because you didn't get much sleep. It's just too COMPLICATED!!!

OMG Have You Seen the New Show?!?!

So, many of you guys probably know the new show "13 Reasons Why". This show is so good. It's pretty intense in some parts but it's really good. 13 Reasons Why is about a girl named Hannah Baker who commits suicide, but she had a reason for it. She leaves these tapes to a close friend of hers named, Clay, who had a crush on Hannah. In those tapes that she recorded, she explains 13 reasons why she chose to take her own life. But before Clay, a group of kids had already received the tapes and were told by Hannah, to pass those tapes on. It gets better and better and I love all the mystery in the show. This movie was based on a book. But, I haven't read the book yet. I've heard from some friends that the book was better than the show, but I don't know if that's true because the show was really good. Like so good I can't even explain it. But you know what they say, "Books are always better than the movie". I suggest you watch the movie!!!!

Puppies, Kittens, and Bunnies, Oh My!

According to research, if you look at cute animals before a test, you'll have a better chance scoring higher than what you usually get. And, since we're taking the PARCC this week, I thought some of these cute pictures of baby animals will help you concentrate for the test. So maybe take a quick peek at these pictures and score well on the PARCC testing!! Good Luck!!

Dear Mom...

This is a tribute to my mom. My mom has done so many things for me. And I'm very thankful for that. Every morning she wakes up and even though she's so tired and wants to go back in bed, she is determined to wake my sister and I up for school. And she cooks us breakfast and makes our lunches. When she comes home, she's so tired, that all she wants to do is lay down and rest, instead she takes my siblings to places they need to be like hockey for my brother, and the library for my sister. Then, she comes back and cooks a delicious meal for my whole family. I love my mom so much and she's always there for me. Some daughters have a bad relationship with their moms, but my mom and I have a great relationship. I'm going to start and try to get closer to her, because I'm always busy so I never get to spend a lot of time with her. And also, she's always busy with my brother's after school activity. But, from now on, I'm going to make sure that we will spend time more often.
