Graduation Speech

Welcome family, friends, and teachers to our 8th grade graduation ceremony. I want to thank all of you for coming to our ceremony. I just want to start by saying thanks to all my teachers that have been with me all throughout kindergarten all the way up to 8th grade. To all the teachers who first taught me my ABC's and my first steps into learning addition and subtraction. And to all the teachers who helped me improve on my learning skills to get me to where I am today. I'm especially grateful to all my teachers because they never gave up on me when I had trouble in many subjects or other students who had trouble as well. I looked up on many of my teachers wondering how they never showed their frustration or anger when a student was giving them such a hard time. If I were them I would give up very easily but the teachers at Golf and Hynes have taught me to be patient with others and to never give up. I'm going to miss all the District 67 staff knowing that there won't be teachers like them in high school. That's what makes them very special. I remember that in Hynes I was a very shy kid and I didn't have that many friends. Especially in 3rd grade I didn't have any friends and I had trouble making them, but I remember my 3rd grade teacher Ms. O'Shaughnessy, would talk to me and make me feel better or ask me if anything was wrong. I was very grateful to have a teacher like Ms. O'Shaughnessy and I'm grateful to have all my other teachers. Now I just want to say thanks to my parents for always pushing me to work harder and reminding me to do my homework. They also made sure to feed me so I could stay healthy and never grow hungry during school. Without my parents, I wouldn't know how to survive school. And last but not least, all my friends. I would never imagine a world without all my classmates and friends. I enjoyed growing up with my classmates ever since kindergarten. Even for those classmates that haven't been with us ever since kindergarten, they are all very special to me. We even had our ups and downs and some of you guys I don't even talk to, but each of you guys mean a lot to me. In high school, we might even separate and probably won't see each other but I know that we can still all be friendly and maybe stay friends till the end of high school or even longer. Thank you for listening to my speech and I'm going to miss all of you very much. I hope all my classmates go off to high school and enjoy it very much and make new friends along the way. I also know they will all become very successful too. Here is a quote by Dr. Seuss that I agree with very much.

"You have brains in your heads. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."

I wish you all the Best of Luck Class of 2017!!
